Hometree HQ

In August 2020, we made our first offer on the land in Ennistymon, and in May 2021 we got the 'keys'. It's sixteen and a half acres of agricultural land just outside Ennistymon in County Clare. From the peak of a hill in the middle of the land you can see the beach of Lahinch and the mouth of the River Inagh.

Why is this a good spot for an HQ?

It's about the possibilities that this land can open up. We knew we wanted to have Hometree HQ on a site big enough to propagate and grow enough saplings to meet the need of the tree pledges. We wanted sovereignty over the source of our saplings and to ensure the saplings are grown organically by applying the principles of regenerative agriculture (improve the well-being of our environment by increasing soil fertility, biodiversity, water retention and cleanliness, and soil carbon sequestration). We wanted the site to be near an urban area, making it easy for people to visit. The site is within five min walk from Ennistymon and a five min drive from Lahinch. We want to be accessible for people to learn and contribute, as education and inclusion are at the heart of Hometree.

In the years to come, we hope to create a centre of excellence built around the best land regeneration practices, agroforestry techniques, and the most vibrant and healthy tree nursery.
