Our work is to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity. What inspired you to work with Hometree?
We have been planting native trees and hedgerows on our organic vegetable farm in Galway for many years, and after over 7000 trees have been planted we have now run out of space. So we wanted to continue this important work through a local Irish tree planting charity. Hometree was recommended by a few of our customers and we love your ethos and commitment to regenerating Ireland’s lost wild spaces.

You will not see some of the trees you are planting reach maturity, what has inspired such a long term vision?
As the saying goes, 'the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now’. Planting trees is one of the simplest and most powerful tools in the fight against climate breakdown. It’s not just about sequestering carbon, the biodiversity and habitats that trees create is vital to life as we know it.

Have there been any key moments you can share about how you or your organisation decided to support a more abundant and healthier world?
It has been our passion since we started, it has been my passion since I was a small child. I have always for as long as I remember wanted to protect the planet. The crunch point came when we decided to quit our jobs and move home and take over the family farm. The reaction of my neighbours, was, 'you cant do that without Roundup!'. It struck me then that the whole system is indoctrinated to use chemicals in our food and in the process is destroying our health, biodiversity and our planet.

Would you like to share any key lessons life has taught you?
Always persevere, no matter the set back. The sky is always blue, but sometimes we just cant see it, it is there and we will see it again one day. Grit attached to a vision for a better world have kept us going in an ultra competitive tough market, but it has been the support of people that has got us through in the end. My favourite quote of all time sums this up:
