Castle Leslie Estate
Details
Our work is to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity. What inspired you to work with Hometree?
We are currently a low net carbon business due to our current policy of purchasing 100% green electricity and our gas supply is BIOLPG. We want to take a step further and partner with Hometree to further demonstrate our desire to be a carbon positive business.
You will not see some of the trees you are planting reach maturity, what has inspired such a long term vision?
Our aim is not to see these trees reach maturity; it is to know we are helping another charitable organisation outside of our own, achieve the restoration of Ireland’s ancient woodlands. The culture within Hometree and its aims align with our own.
Have there been any key moments you can share about how you or your organisation decided to support a more abundant and healthier world?
We have been quite active in realising our ‘Impact’ and work continuously to try and improve it where we can. We have implemented a Green Energy purchasing policy, Water Usage Reduction via waterless urinals, Integrated Wetlands for treating our sewage in an eco-friendly way, and Water Butts for watering plants. We have also installed a Biodigester which will process all our Equine and food waste, turning it into compost so we can use it on the Estate. You can read more about our initiatives on our website.
