Castle Leslie Estate
Details
Our work is to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity. What inspired you to work with Hometree?
We are currently a low net carbon business due to our current policy of purchasing 100% green electricity and our gas supply is BIOLPG. We want to take a step further and partner with Hometree to further demonstrate our desire to be a carbon positive business.
You will not see some of the trees you are planting reach maturity, what has inspired such a long term vision?
Our aim is not to see these trees reach maturity; it is to know we are helping another charitable organisation outside of our own, achieve the restoration of Ireland’s ancient woodlands. The culture within Hometree and its aims align with our own.
Have there been any key moments you can share about how you or your organisation decided to support a more abundant and healthier world?
We have officially achieved B Corporation (B Corp) certification, a significant milestone that highlights our dedication to social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
In a landscape where businesses are often driven solely by profit, Castle Leslie Estate stands out as part of an elite group of companies committed to balancing purpose and profit. There are only a few thousand certified B Corps worldwide, reflecting a commitment to making a positive impact on society and the planet. B Corp certification is not just an accolade; it’s a mission to create a better future for our community and the world. This recognition underscores our pledge to uphold high standards of social and environmental responsibility across all our operations. It demonstrates our unwavering commitment to sustainability, including initiatives such as sourcing local and organic ingredients, promoting ethical treatment of employees, and supporting local artisans and businesses. These practices not only enhance the guest experience but also contribute to the well-being of the local community and environment.
Our estate’s efforts reflect a holistic approach to business, where every decision considers its impact on stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the ecosystem. More information about our sustainability initiatives can be found here.
